Notes on the Invention and Construction

of New Instruments and Sound Sculpturs

in Italy

“The sound sculptures of Amalia Del Ponte of Milan are instead made of stone; they are stones or lithophones, the material

of which is transformed into sound waves.

Each plate, measuring about one meter by two, is sculpted, as are the strikers: visual perception broadens into acoustic perception.”
